| Purpose/objectives: | To instill the culture of savings, empowering the elderly economically so as to fight poverty and boost household income for sustainability of homesteads, especially where HIV/AIDS has left orphaned chilren in the care of grandparents. |
| Background: | Masaka Elders SACCO Ltd is one of the organisations set up in Uganda to instill a savings culture in the population such that the elderly get economically empowered to lead a prosperous life. Masaka Elders SACCO has created a revolving fund from which loans can be accessed for development. The organisation was started by 17 volunteeers in 2006. |
