Introduction to the maps

About the maps

The maps on the NNOPU site show the location and general features of Uganda. They link downwards from the Location Map, to the Outline Map of Uganda, then to Regional Maps, the scale changing to depict smaller areas at greater detail.

What they contain

The Location Map shows Uganda's position in Central Africa and displays the surrounding countries.

The Outline Map of Uganda shows the four regional areas; the Northern, Eastern, Central and the Western Regions. When displayed, this map links to:

  • The Region Maps and, because of their size or shape, the Northern Region is split into two maps - East and West sheets, while the Western Region is split into North and South sheets. Click on the magnifying glass symbols to see these maps.
  • Listings of Organisations registered with NNOPU that are located within the applicable region. Click on the red triangular shapes to link to the listings.

The Regional Maps show more detail and include District names and boundaries. They will open in a pop-up window. You can vary the display by:

  • Using the “Expand to actual size” feature if required; activate this in the bottom right hand corner of the image.
  • Move the map to another position by clicking and dragging, in any direction. This will allow other maps to be opened.
  • Clicking anywhere on the expanded image will close it.
