Vision:

Societal:  Socio-economically improved communities in the Rwenzori region, leading a decent and developmental life.
Organisational: a well organised, led managed, contributing to the overall socio=economic welfare of communities in the  Rwenzori region.  
Purpose/objectives:
  1. Reduce the spread and mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS Pandemic
  2. Work towards achieving improved human rights, democracy, peace building and conflict resolution mainly considering older persons, children, people with disabilities, women, people living with HIV/AIDS.
  3. Literacy and gender issues
  4. Protect and sustain environment.   
Background: COWIA is an indigenous NGO founded in 1998 in Kabarole district. It has its main offices in Fort Portal with another office to be opened in Kyenjojo.

Main activities:
  • Mobilisation and sensitisation of older persons
  • Income generating projects
  • Lobbying and advocacy for older persons
  • Designing and distribution of information, education and communication materials(ICT)
  • Fundraising
